I'm not dead! ... yet. I felt the need to submit a few deviations, so I decided to also write a journal entry. Well, recently life has been hectic. Really. Hectic. We put the house up for sale, got it all cleaned up and spiffy. As we were about to receive an offer from a potential buyer, we discover we have mold problems in our roof. My mom can't really figure out why because it was my dad that oversaw the work that was being done six years ago and he's dead now. So that's fun. In the mean time, I don't know if we're moving or not so I don't know where to sign up for my studies or where to find a summer job and it stresses me out no end. H

This is the 7th day since I left home and whew is it ever hot in Pedernales! I take comfort in knowing, however, that August is the hottest month of the year. That means that the rest of the year is tolerable. My first impression when we landed in Dominican Republic was "... ick...." We checked in to a resort in Santo Domingo that night with Arleigh, my mother's friend that has been living here for 10 years. Being a spoiled Canadian, I thought the hotel was sub-par. Our family project is at its start! Tomorrow at noon I am off to Burlington to take a plane that will bring me to the Dominican Republic. This is part 1 of my move to the D.R. I will be staying there for three weeks to get a feel for the place and to see if I really do want to live there for a year. It really is exciting... but terrifying. Right now my mind can't really get past the luggage stage. I'm really stressed about going through check-in, the border control, getting on the right plane, etc. I haven't had the time to think about the rest yet.
